Longtime Honeybees will know of our appreciation for the work of Brené Brown, speaker of epic TED Talks and author of Daring Greatly, along with several other terrific books.
Brown’s latest, Braving the Wilderness, is keeping me company on this rainy afternoon, and like many potentially life-altering encounters, it offers a choice. You can skirt over the surface and skim through the main points, noting the quote above, nodding with quick and clever understanding. Or you can dive in more deeply, placing yourself right beside Brené as Oprah introduces her to Maya Angelou, who grasps her hand, looks her in the eye, and advises, “do not be moved.”
Dear Honeybees, whatever opportunity presents itself today, whether a book or a conversation or a legendary poet, I hope you dive deep. Build your own courage.
First, be moved.
And then, do not be moved.
