Several years ago, I came across this quote from Fred Rogers (yes, Mr. Rogers), and have used it as a birthday meditation ever since.

From the time you were very little, You’ve had people who have smiled you into smiling, people who have talked you into talking, sung you into singing, loved you into loving. no matter where they are, deep down you know they have always wanted what is best for you. They’ve always cared for you beyond measure and have encouraged you to be true to the best within you. Let’s just take a minute of silence to think of these people now.

Dear ones, let’s take a moment to gather the web of these caregivers to us, whether they be family or friends, teachers or strangers, authors or artists, trees or mountains, critters or creatures. 

Let us care for others in return.
