I found myself at a new restaurant in a new town this week, and when time came for dessert the waiter announced, “Our featured dessert tonight is… an enigma.” He proceeded to describe a sort of parsnip pudding.
I thought to myself, hmmm.
Then I thought, well, I surely will not be offered parsnip pudding again in this lifetime. Why not?
Friends, it was delicious.
Even more surprising was the delight of the chef, who stopped right in the middle of the dinner rush to tell me how glad they were that I ordered it. “I love this dish! But when I say ‘parsnip dessert’ I get a lot of funny looks… thank you for giving it a chance.”
Dear ones, we all have quirky ideas that are unique to us – some far weirder than parsnip pudding.
May we develop them with care.
May we offer them with courage.
May they be taken up with love.
May great joy ensue for all.
